11/12 High Roller league

Our team finally made a comeback in our league, winning 4-2 against the last place team. My first game I broke dry and got ran out on for an 0-10, but managed to win my other 4 games to shoot a 40. The first round we were down 8-30 after 3 games to lose the first round.

The last round I broke and ran out for a lucky 10-0 since I nearly scratched for 8 ball shape and got lucky to make the tough 8 ball I had left. The last 2 guys on our team lost, and we ended up losing the last round also.

This brings my master league record to 22-23 with 6 EROS.

I have passed up on a flu shot for the 10th year in a row...felt miserable for about 3 days after the shot and have avoided it since. Our son is too young for it, but my daughter will probably get it at her 2 year appointment in a couple weeks.

Just heard that my sis, bro in law and 2yr old nephew will be making it back, it'll be nice to see them again for sure. Been a long few months and a lot has changed lately...I'm sure Aden is looking forward to meeting his aunt!

I noticed the flu is spreading a little bit in Kentucky, if my sis is listening...try to avoid this! :)

Getting a little cold...

Finally starting to get a little cold out...lucky the bad weather held off for a little while since I had an outdoor election job. Yep, I was one of those annoying people that were taking an exit poll. Beautiful weather with just a little wind, just a couple days later and it would have been really bad. Got around 70 people to fill out the exit poll questionaires, with a total of just over 400 votes visiting the polling place while I was there.

Got my daughter a new coat for this winter...didn't realize how expensive kids would be! :) Her winter coat from last year isn't even close to fitting. Had to buy her a cute hat and boots to go with it of course!

11/5 & 11/9 Leagues

11/5 - Had a pretty rough night on Wednesday...our team went 0-6, I won 2 out of 5 and my opponent broke and ran the last rack...not a good way to win the night. Our team is 1-11 the past 2 weeks and dropped from a tie for 1st to 7th.

11/9 - My league on Sunday went pretty well, our team went 4-2 to maintain first by 3 rounds. I won my first 4 games to raise my streak to 18 wins in a row. The last game my opponent hooked himself and got rather lucky when I got BIH. Managed to lose this game with a little more bad luck. My record is now 26-4 on Sunday night...

11/2 Leagues

Played pretty well on Sunday, got lucky in winning one game Sunday..went 5-0 and improving my record to 22-3 and my win streak to 14. Gotta keep it going since my spring league teammate is best in the league at 27-8 with a 19 game win streak still going...

The team went 4-2 against the last place team...still have 1st by 5 rounds or so.

Weekend Pool Tourney

Played in the Fall Classic 9 ball tournament in Grand Island this weekend with my wife...I shot well, but my wife drew last years womens champ the first round and it went downhill for her.

Squeezed a small money match in while waiting in the tournament...and I maintained my AzB King Nebr title. Not as good of new in the Fall Classic in Grand Island....which drew a couple ringers from Iowa and Colorado. Race to 7/6 double elim...

I won my first match 7-5, then lost 4-7..messing up a couple easy runouts. In the losers bracket I won 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Then I got down 4-5 and broke and ran to make to hill-hill. The last game was mostly a safety game, then I had the first chance to get out. I missed the 6 in the side, and my opponent ran out...this will eat me for a while since this woulda got me into the money. Basically at least a $40 miss! Here's the layout...

EDIT: Found out that K. Sabin, the one I missed this shot against...ended up getting 2nd and $450, plus $500 for the calcutta. Grrr..

Halloween

Our daughter loved halloween this year, she was a little nervous after the first house we stopped at since it had scary music and a few other props. Keira was out of her shell really fast and would walk up to the door, knock and say "trick or treat" by herself. We have also been practicing with her the past couple weeks on her age. When we ask "How old are you" she says 2...not for another couple weeks though. She answered that question for one of the houses too..she can be so cute! After Keira realized that everyone was giving her candy, she just went right for the bowl of candy. Fun times!

10/29 League night...

Had a pretty rough night in league against kind of a rivalry team..sense we stole one of their better players this year :) I was ran out on twice, going 2-3. One of the guys on the other team won all 5, broke and ran all 3 breaks and shot 50-11. We won the first round and that was it for us going 1-5. We dropped to 5th, 4 rounds out of 1st with a 25-17 record.

Brings me to 16-19 with 5 EROs, and 7 EROs against me....ouch. I guess I need a few more...but it is mostly cause by my break as 4 of the runouts have been when I came up dry on the break. I usually get a good spread on the break, just don't make a ball as much as I'd like :)

Made it back from our long drive to DFW and back (about 550 mi each way)...Had training on Mon/Tues and drove back yesterday. Gas prices in OKC were $1.99...almost took a picture, but did take a picture of this!

It was really an uneventful trip, missed the kids for sure! My wife picked up a halloween costume for Keira while I was away...she looks pretty cute. Will definitely post more pics of her halloween fun.

Sunday Leagues

I was unable to play on Sunday since I was sent to the DFW area for a couple days. My sub won all 5 with a 50-20ish and an ERO. The team took 5 out of 6 rounds and we furthered our lead in the league with a 31-5 record. Two teams are now tied for 2nd with 27-9 records...gonna be a fun league, kinda sad I missed this past league night.

Pool leagues on Sunday went pretty well, we managed to win 6-0…winning 17 of the 25 8 ball games. The team tied with use, also won all other their rounds, this league is kind of a 3 horse race…

I won all 5 of my games and improved my record to 17-3 in the league. We have the team tied with us for 1st this sunday and I will be gone to Dallas for a couple days. Hopefully my sub can carry me!!

Got pretty lucky this game when I scratched when I tried to break out my last ball...

He came up to the table and shot the wrong one...giving me BIH on the 8. Pretty nice guy....that doesn't happen very often!

Team played pretty good as a whole, beating a team ranked higher than us 4-2. This really tightened up the league standings and allowed us to sneak into 2^nd out of 12, we are 1 game out of 1^st and 2 games out of 8^th. Here is the standings….

League night on Sunday went pretty well..went 4-1 with an ERO. Messed one up & my back-up plan failed...

Now am 12-3 on Sunday with 3 EROS and at least 2 I messed up.

My wife was really close to her first break and run, I essentially paused my game to watch her finish her runout. She got a bad roll on her last stripe and didn't quite get it...but she managed to win 10-1!

Wednesday night leagues is quite competitive and I played well messing up a couple shots.

In the first one I was trying for shape on the 11 and snuggled up to the 9. So I didn’t think I could make the 9 since I had to take a 45-degree angle for this league. But tried to land the 9 in front of the hole and it ended up dropping, making the run-out for my opponent easy. If I’d got to shoot again it would have been a tough jump.

This was my last game, and I messed up an ERO with poor shape off a duck. I did manage to cut the 6 in the side, but scratched in the corner to lose.

I finished the night 2-3 with another ERO…my league stats are:

Falling behind with my league updates, but I'll give it a go.

Wednesday Master league...

First game, broke and made nothing, and my opponent had an easy layout..but missed leaving the ball in the jaws. Of course I had no easy shot, with the best defensive or offensive shot being about an 70-80%. And I missed it, losing 0-10

Next rack my opponent broke and came up dry...I ran out the rack with awesome shape, shown below in the images.

We were 1-1 on the rounds going in the 3rd game. Me and another guy were last for the round, and we needed to win one of the games for the round. Playling on 2-tables, we both broke and scratched and got ran out on 10-0, 10-0.

We ended up going 2-4 for the night...dropping to 4th out of 12.

I subbed for a friend of mine in league last night and managed to lose 3 out of 5, messing up 2 EROs horribly had a bad result in a jump shot...shown below. Usually don't follow the cue ball that much on my jumps...awe well!

But after that...one of the guys I beat wanted to play again...I said "play for a drink?", he responded with "how about we play for $10"

Been a few months since I've played for money, but it sounded like fun. I took the first game, then the second, the won double or nothing to get up $40. But someone else put quarters up...he had time for one more game. So we played one more for double-or-nothing and I ran-out for an $80 night.

Our team went 5-1 in the second week of our master league on wednesday. I won 3 out of 5 with an ERO the last game...there was a first for me too. I broke and ran for a 10-3, making 6 balls on the break including the 8, spotted the 8 and ran out. Last weeks and this weeks opponents finished 2nd & 3rd last season, and we've started off 9-3. I lost my first game against the teams, and possibily the leagues best player. I got great shape on a trouble ball and screwed it up...here's the layout.

Sunday night league

Played our first night of the same Sunday night league we played last year. The number of teams went from 6 to 10 this year. We didn't start off so hot, losing the first round 38-37, then it was realized that the first 2 games were reversed resulting in playing the incorrect opponent. These games still count in the 5/player 25 game format in the round that they SHOULD have been played. This gave us a second chance to win the first round...which we still lost.

This is a 2 master player allowed scratch league....so I brought it a pretty tough player. The first game he broke and made nada and got ran out on by probably the best girl shooter in the city, for an 0-10 loss. He then won the next 4 games with 2 ERO (10-0's) for a 40-18 margin for the night.

I shot well after losing my first game by scratching on the ball before the 8. I won the next 4 also with one ERO for a 47-22 margin for the night. My ERO was pretty tough since I didn't have a shot at a stripe which was a much easier runout. The carom was really easy if I hit it soft...but I thought I might miss it if I tried to draw back for the 8. The cut on the 8 was easy enough, but there was a good chance of scratching off of one of the stripes.
